Cybersecurity Program Frequently Asked Questions
We have a mix of full time and adjunct faculty with a good mix of academic and professional experience. Most adjuncts work in the Cybersecurity field.
Since 1977, National University has been accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). National University has also been designated as a NSA/DHS Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education through 2020.
Our MS CYB program starts four times a year (2 online and 2 onsite). The BS CYB program starts twice a year (1 online and 1 onsite). Please note the specialization/concentration for each start. The start months are listed below. Please note these are subject to change. Please check with your advisor for official start dates.

The 3 project classes are taken upon completion of the specialization classes, it’s one capstone like project done over 3 months. Students pick their own project and work as a team. Here are some examples of prior projects:
- Security assessment for local organizations
- Develop enterprise security plan/program for local organizations
- Honeypot research
- Run a cyber competition
- Develop high school cybersecurity curriculum
We have a very active Career Services Center that offers job fairs, resume reviews, interview prep, and have a great job portal. We also have some internship agreements with some local San Diego companies.
